Thunderbirds Ice Hockey

Coach Moroz heads our Ice Hockey Development Program here at Cowichan Secondary School.

The Thunderbird Ice Hockey Development Program was designed for players of all skill levels in grades 8 – 12, and provides them with high quality on and off ice instruction that allows them to make maximum use of their abilities without sacrificing their academic pursuits. Players at the grades 10 – 12 level are able to earn credits towards their high school graduation by participating in the program. Players receive high quality training in the areas of skating, individual skill development, team systems, hockey IQ, fitness and nutrition that helps facilitate their development. And, by working in partnership with BC Hockey, the CVMHA and the Cowichan Valley Capitals, as players develope they are gradually exposed the many educational and competitive opportunites that may exist for them outside of their high school careers.
The program is based out of the ISC and runs before school from the beginning of the school year until the end of March. While there is a course fee, the involvement of many generous community partners helps keep that fee affordable for families.
As part of the Thunderbird Program, players may also then have an opportunity to be selected to play for one of Cowichan Secondary’s three highly successful Ice Hockey Thunderbird teams — Junior Boys (grades 8 – 10), Senior Boys (grades 10 – 12) and Female.
